Welcome back to the second week of Catholic Community Choir’s final summer camp of the season, Once on This Island Jr. We are so excited to be back with all the campers for another fabulous week. Our staff loves working with each child and seeing them grow as performers. The show comes to life in the two short weeks we are here and it is magic to see. Each camper works so hard to put on an amazing performance, so we can’t wait for you to see it on Friday!

Our campers had quite a busy day. Our oldest group blocked the show for awhile this morning after snack. The campers reviewed all their dances with Miss Erin in dance class. Dance class is a camp favorite. Miss Erin always leads our dances with grace and patience. The children cooled off in the air-conditioned chapel during Faith Formation with Mr. Field. There, they discussed the importance of yesterday’s Gospel. Because of the rain this morning, the fields where we usually would have games were extremely muddy. So, games were held in the cafeteria today. The campers always have a great time in games. They can get some energy out and have some fun with their friends.

Sometimes camp can be a challenge for the staff. Teaching a show is hard to do in two weeks, so sometimes certain songs or scenes won’t be taught until almost the end of our time here at camp. A certain camper recognized this and decided to help out. Claire Hannigan, who plays Asaka in our show, saw that we hadn’t learned a song called “Pray” yet and started to teach the other campers in her group the music! We love to see these moments of campers stepping up and taking leadership.
