How can it be? Summer has flown by and we can’t believe we’re already in our final two weeks of camp. We welcomed a fun and excited group of campers this morning for another record breaking session. We were so happy to see so many new and returning faces. We loved sharing our CCC traditions and opening the chapter of My Son Pinocchio Jr. as a CCC first! Follow along all two weeks long as we bring to love the magic and fun of this new musical to the CCC stage.

Campers enjoyed our morning orientation and met their groups and counselors right away. Campers had their first challenge of coming up with their group name by the end of the day. Because of this task, we challenged campers to share their silly side by finding out fun facts about their fellow campers before and during break time. We enjoyed seeing the many laughs and smiles throughout the first day of camp and knew many new friendships had already begun!

After our morning break, campers jumped right into routine of our classes. Our older campers had the opportunity to audition if they were interested as well. The cast list will be shared tonight. Be sure to check it out! We had a tremendous amount of talent on the CCC stage and know this show will be a great one with this group! Be sure to save the dates and times of our performances which will take place next Thursday August 18th at 7pm and Friday August 19th at 2pm.

Day 1 is always a super fast day! We had the chance to talk with some campers about their day and they shared some of their favorite parts. Some of our campers enjoyed time in art class getting a little messy and making underwater oceans with Mrs. Ellis. Art class is always a nice break from working on the production and enjoying the cold air condition! Outside, campers played a new camp game with Mr. Babcock of intense outdoor rock, paper, scissors. We think this is a game that may be one campers try to bring home for the whole family to enjoy. Ask them all about the new take to this classic game! In Faith Formation with Mr. Elijah & Mr. Gavin, campers talked about how important it is to be respectful and prayerful in the Chapel here at O’Hara. Campers then talked about the parable of the lost sheep which then turned into a fun game of finding the lost sheep in the chapel. Campers were able to talk about why the Good Shepherd wanted to find the lost shepherd so badly and about how much God loves us and always wants to be there for us when we are lost. We look forward to sharing more about our campers day at CCC in the two weeks ahead with all of you. We hope you enjoy!
