Where does the time go!? We are back for our third week of Summer By the CCC 19 and we are totally in shock. We have been having so much fun with all of our campers and you know what they say, “Time flies when you are having fun!”

Today was packed with excitement for the upcoming week! Our campers definitely stayed busy throughout the day. With all the group numbers taught vocally and choreographed, the day entailed lots of review, dusting off the cobwebs that grew over the weekend. To release some energy, the campers played Capture the Flag and Run the Bases in games, which is led by Mr. Babcock and his son Elijah. It was a super nice day to be outside. In art, the children began to decorate their Kiss Bags, which will be out in the lobby on Friday. There will be Kiss Grams for sale to put in your favorite camper’s bag! Today’s Faith Formation lesson focused on Jesus getting lost in the Temple. Faith Formation is a great time for campers to slow down, cool off, and focus on the real reason behind CCC.

One of the coolest things about CCC is looking back on past years and seeing the growth. Summer camp originally started in July of 2011. Camp consisted of 60 campers, a handful of apprentices, and the same two weeks full of fun. Our camp shows were performed in the St. Kevin’s cafeteria. Since then, we’ve performed 16 camp shows. Come Friday, that number will be 17! We love having our camps here at Cardinal O’Hara High School. We moved camp here during the summer of 2014. O’Hara stage is home for Catholic Community Choir. We wouldn’t be able to put on such great performances without our wonderful location.

The large project that is costumes is underway! Ryan Jewell has been joined this week by Gina Reed, and the two of them are making sure our characters will be looking great on stage. Another great perk of being at O’Hara is the costume room! Above the theater there is a room overflowing with costumes from countless old productions. We have access to these costumes and get to put our own flare on them, making them just perfect for our shows.

Only a few more days until we meet Prince Ali! Be sure to add our performances on 2:00pm and/or 7:00pm to your calendar for Friday, July 19th as CCC presents Disney’s Aladdin Kids sponsored by Mr. Dave White and many others!
