Day 3 of Session II Creates Competition…

Which Philly sports team got the most love today? It was hard to tell in the sea of campers bursting with some Philly pride! A couple competing cities and their fans somehow snuck into camp but we let them stay. After all, it is just fun and games! This is always a fan favorite theme day for our campers (and probably parents too!). With lots of excitement and showing off of each other’s apparel, the day was off to a great start and tons of energy. We could feel it!

As campers ease into our camp routine and become more acquainted with their groups and leaders, our mornings become more and more exciting. Campers filled the theater this morning with a dance party to some favorite tunes that was quickly repeated this afternoon. We’re pretty sure our campers were all ready for a nap at the days end. We know we were! Read all about our day below…

Art with Miss Grace!

Now this was a fun project! Miss Grace led every class today to make their own unique painting showing Aladdin and Jasmine in front of the beautiful night sky. Every creation was impressive! The campers spent time in their individual groups in Art Class today so each class had their own time to work on their unique creation. We made quite a mess but that’s a-ok! (Thank you, washable paint). As each class traveled into art, campers were excited to have their own opportunity to make a custom creation blending colors, adding accents and starry details. We have quite the artists over at CCC! We can’t wait for you to see their creations.

Yesterday, we mentioned that many of our staff are former members of CCC who are also studying Education at West Chester University. It is no surprise here that Miss Grace is also a member of this group of talented young adults on our team making our camp days better! Miss Grace is leading Art Class this summer but is also helping put our production together as one of our assistant directors. You can often find Miss Grace leading vocal rehearsals where she shares her enthusiasm and passion with us all!

Miss Grace, Miss Erin, Miss Melissa and Mr. Ryan all participated in many shows on the CCC stage together when CCC had just begun. Knowing that they had the experience as performers on the CCC stage, were involved with summer camp (some even apprentices years back!), and are all now continuing their education to become educators is what makes our team so special! Many of our staff and volunteers helped to build CCC to what it is today and for that, we are so grateful. Not to mention, they’re all very talented performers themselves! Throughout the school year, this group travels together from school to CCC to make our productions happen. With the guidance of Mr. Brac and Miss AK, this group has quickly become prominent roles within our CCC family and for that we are so very grateful!

Faith Formation With Mr. Field

All campers visited the Chapel again today as both Mr. Field & Miss Melissa led us in Faith Formation. Mr. Field opened a conversation about miracles which led to a discussion about miracles involving the Eucharist. Miss Melissa talked about Mary and about her ‘yes’ to becoming Jesus’ Mom. With another meditation and reflection, our campers left the Chapel having had the opportunity to continue growing in their faith.

New Games…YES!

With a new delivery of some new games for Mr. Babcock, our games classes were quite competitive. It definitely matched up to the theme of the day! The athlete in all of us came out as we enjoyed potato sack races, 3-legged races, egg on a spoon balancing races and more. The sunny day and time spent outside with our peers provided many laughs while we battled out who could tally up the most relay wins.
